The doctors of Roncesvalles Dental Centre all practice with the philosophy of the patient first. This means that all patients are seen as individuals with specific and unique needs.  Each patient will have a personalized experience and treatment plan with the goal of optimum oral health. Dr. Alexander Lock

Dentist, Founder and Owner

Dr. Alexander Lock graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1998. In 1999, Dr. Lock furthered his education by completing a postgraduate General Practice Residency in Hospital Dentistry from the Veterans Administrative Medical Centre in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Lock continued in private practice in the United States before returning to the Toronto area in 2001. Married with two children, Dr. Lock uses what little spare time he has to enjoy sports, literature and playing the bagpipes.

Dr. Pamela McGrath

Dr. Pamela McGrath graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2002. Dr. McGrath completed a two-year General Practice Residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago and continued in private practice in Chicago for several years. In 2007, Dr. McGrath moved to Toronto with her husband Mike, a High Park native. Dr. McGrath resides in the High Park area with her husband and three young children. She loves spending time with her family and travelling. Dr. McGrath is also a tennis enthusiast and a member of Howard Park Tennis Club.

Dr. Andrew Plaitis

Dr. Andrew Plaitis graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in 1995. Dr. Andrew Plaitis also attended General Practice Residency in-hospital based dentistry in Vermont. Dr. Plaitis moved back to Toronto in 1999 and returned to the Roncesvalles neighborhood where he grew up. In addition to being a partner at Roncesvalles Dental Centre, Dr. Plaitis serves as a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto School of Dentistry. In his spare time, Dr. Plaitis enjoys outdoor activities and spending quality time with his family.

Dr. Taylor McKerlie

Dr. Taylor McKerlie graduated from Trinity College Dental University Hospital in Ireland; a unique 5-year program that combines study with clinical practice for underserved patient communities. At the University of Connecticut John Dempsey Hospital, Dr. McKerlie completed a residency program with a certificate for Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Her interest in science and patient care began at the University of Western Ontario where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. McKerlie’s patient-centred approach means that her patients feel heard and important.

Dr. McKerlie recently returned to her hometown of Toronto to continue in private practice. Her time in Dublin and the opportunity to visit Europe sparked her interest in travelling, exploring new places, and meeting new people. She also enjoys sailing, cooking, and workout classes with friends.

Dr. Anna Urbano

Dentist

Dr. Anna Urbano completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University in life sciences with a minor in French. She graduated from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, at Western University in London, Ont., in 2016. Dr. Urbano then went to the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Ill., for a one-year general residency treating patients who were medically compromised, patients with special needs, as well as a more general population.

Before going to dental school, Dr. Urbano earned her yoga teacher training certificate, and still enjoys practising, but with two young kids and a 95-pound dog, the time is harder to come by! When she isn’t working or sneaking vegetables into her kids’ dinner, she also loves to go biking, camping, hiking, and swimming.

Dr. Urbano grew up in Toronto and has been practising dentistry in the city since 2017. She loves interacting with the patients in the community, especially when she can make use of her Spanish and French. She hopes to continue to create a positive impact and create meaningful connections in the neighbourhood.

Dr. Maryam Fathimani

Orthodontist

Dr. Maryam Fathimani grew up initially in Alberta and subsequently in Ontario, graduating in Waterdown.  She received her Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree with honors in Biophysics from the University of Western Ontario in the Department of Medical Biophysics.  She obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Toronto in 2008.  She moved to the west coast to complete a one-year general practice residency at the University of British Columbia, working as a dentist throughout regions of the province.  She was also selected to travel to England for an oral and maxillofacial surgery.  Dr. Fathimani attended the University of Alberta to receive a Master of Science degree specializing in Orthodontics in 2013.

In her free time, Dr. Fathimani enjoys all sporting activities, writing, traveling, art, and architecture.  She can be caught laughing and smiling on a daily basis.  She loves residing in the GTA, spending time with her family and friends, and creating beautiful smiles.

Dr. Boris Godoy-Galvez

Periodontist

Dr. Boris Godoy-Galvez, known to his patients as Dr. Boris, is a native of the Kitchener-Waterloo area. He attended the University of Waterloo and received an Honours Bachelor of Science. Dr. Boris then graduated with honors from the University of Toronto, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. At his graduation, he was recognized with an award for his academic proficiency, involvement in extracurriculars, and service to underprivileged and disabled patients. This was highlighted by his volunteer work on dental mission trips in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, where he was able to use his fluency in Spanish to help patients.

Following graduation, Dr. Boris completed a hospital dental residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, where he was a frontline emergency dental provider at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, Dr. Boris completed his specialty training and Master of Science degree in Periodontology at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Boris is an active member of numerous dental organizations, including the Ontario Dental Association, the Ontario Society of Periodontists, and the American Academy of Periodontology. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

In his free time, he enjoys exercising, taking photos of his pet birds, and is currently taking Mandarin lessons. If you have a dog, please be prepared to show him photos.
